Fazly was educated at St Anthony’s College, Katugastota from 1969 to 1978, where he showed early promise in sports. As a left-arm medium pace bowler, Fazly was in the First XI squad under Mohan Ratnakumar in the early part of the 1978/79 season.

Thaiyar Mohammed is known to most Antonians as an outstanding cricketer and their captain of 1977, but what he has achieved since leaving college is news to only a few.

This is a brief story of two Antonian cricketers who were destined for great things as teenagers but chose not to pursue their impending glory.

The outstanding performances of our junior teams in the past 18 months have put Antonian cricket on the path to prosperity, something we have not seen for a long time.
