150 Reasons to Applaud Sisal Hemaka

When 15-year-old opening bat Sisal Hemaka Attanayaka scored a magnificent unbeaten 150 against Gurukula College, Kelaniya at Katugastota, he etched his name into Antonian cricket history. It was his maiden First XI century, and only the 27th score of 150 or more recorded in the long annals of Antonian cricket. The last batter to reach this milestone was Mohammed Kamil (157) against Isipathana in 2021.

Sisal Hemaka Attanayake - Youngest Antonian to score 150…

Since Jack Anderson’s pioneering 184 against St Joseph’s in 1917, a total of 227 centuries have been scored at First XI level for SACK, yet just 27 of them have crossed the 150 mark, achieved by only 20 players. Remarkably, only four Antonians — Jack Anderson (four times), ACM Lafir (three), and Rany Sims and Marlon Von Hagt (twice each) — have managed this rare feat on multiple occasions. See below for the full list of 150+ scores by an Antonian batter:

Sisal, who turns 16 in May, is arguably the youngest Antonian ever to compile an innings of 150 or more, a remarkable feat that underlines the significance of his knock and signals the arrival of a special talent. We look forward to watching him develop his skills throughout his school career, not just this year but over the next three years for which he remains eligible to represent the College.
